World-Class Kauai Golf
Golf on Kauai is truly world-class in stature, with Kauai golf courses consistently ranking among the top 100 in the United States and the top 10 in Hawaii. Guests at Hanalei Colony are well-situated to play two of those top-ranked courses-–the Makai and the Prince, located just 15 minutes away at Princeville. Each of Kauai's courses has its own character, and all are spectacular, so tuck your camera into your golf bag! Scattered around the island, the various courses range from casual local links to famed resort courses that have hosted the most renowned players in the golf world. To literally follow in the footsteps of golf greats like Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Ernie Els, and Vijay Singh, play a round at Poipu Bay Golf Course on Kauai’s south shore. Located about 90 minutes from our Kauai resort, this course hosted the prestigious national PGA Grand Slam of Golf from 1994 to 2006. Closer to Hanalei Colony, the Princeville Resort area is home to three golf courses: the classic and beautiful 18-hole Makai course, one of the top-ranked courses in in the state; the easygoing, casual 9-hole Woods course; and the challenging 18-hole Prince Course, ranked for many years as the #1 course in Hawaii. If you are a golfer, a round at any of these courses is one of the “must-do” activities on Kauai.
