Kauai hiking will not disappoint.

Kauai Hiking at Its Best

Hanalei Colony is the closest resort to the world-famous Napali Coast hiking trails, and many hikers make our resort home base for their hiking excursions. A number of leisurely family-friendly hiking trails are located on Kauai’s north shore, just minutes from Hanalei Colony. And for experienced hikers, the 11-mile Kalalau Trail beckons. One of the most famous hiking trails in the world, it clings to the sheer Napali cliffs starting at Ke'e Beach and ending at Kalalau Beach. Hikers from around the world visit Kauai just to experience this incredible trail, originally carved out of the mountains by the ancient Hawaiians. Strenuous and more than a bit frightening at times, the Kalalau Trail should not be undertaken without thorough research and preparation. But the rewards are breathtaking--pristine beaches, remote waterfalls, and a rugged coastline known the world over for its magnificent peaks and valleys. Many of our guests describe their Kauai hiking experience as "legendary."

There are a variety of guided hikes on Kauai, featuring expert guides who can enhance your hiking experience by sharing information on the plants, animals, and culture of the island. There is a hike for every level of expertise, from families with young children to all-out adventurers. Whether on your own or with a guide, you'll love exploring Kauai's hiking trails.
