Annual Kauai Mokihana Festival Celebrates Year of Hula

The annual Kauai Mokihana Festival returns to the Garden Island for its 27th year. This year's event celebrates the "Year of Hula" as it was 25 years ago that hula competition began.

The 7 day cultural festival on Kauai features not only hula competitions, but Hawaiian and contemporary music, Hawaiian language, crafts, lectures, history and more. Just a few of the events taking place include:

• A composer's contest and concert at Kauai Community College on Sept. 19th
• Evening of storytelling and videos of musical legends at Kauai Museum on Sept. 21
• Hula Kahiko and Hula Auana competitions on Sept. 22 and 23rd at the Kauai Beach Resort.
