Hawaii film festival

61d734bb3fda064722df1bf7a7c922f0782253fd For more than 10 years,  the Hawaii Ocean Film Festival has featured films about marine resources, ocean recreation and our cultural connections to the sea.  In the last year, MovieMaker Magazine named the festival "One of the 20 Coolest Film Festivals." This year the festival returns to Kauai to please audiences once again. Opening night - on July 22 in Waipa - features Kauai filmmaker Teri Tico's documentary "Miss South Pacific" along with several other films. If you haven't seen "Soul Surfer" yet, be sure to attend the festival on July 23 at Waioli Park's soccer field to view the inspirational film about Kauai's own Bethany Hamilton. The festival closes on July 24th, back in Waipa, with a tribute to Andy Irons. The shows begin at sunset (approx. 7:00pm) and you're invited to bring your blankets and beach chairs to make yourself comfortable. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Entry is $5.00 at the gate or purchase a ticket at Hanalei Surf Company in Hanalei or at the Princeville Music Kiosk. Or, become a member of the Surfrider Foundation that night & get free admittance to the event. Relax in our Kauai vacation condos after the event. If you're staying at the Hanalei Colony Resort during this weekend, be sure to include the festival in your plans. Waipa is just a short drive down the road from the Resort. Enjoy an evening under the stars watching the big screen. For more details, visit http://hawaiioceanfilmfestival.org.
